I Got a Boy:

It is arguable that we met at a devotional our freshman year at Oral Roberts University, however only one of us remembers. Our first "real" encounter, according to Eric, was nothing short of comedic. Our friend Molli had been trying to get us together for some time, when her now fiance, Josh, chose to take charge by tossing a freshly awoken, stained sweater wearing Eric into the deep-end. Had there been stained glass windows in that chapel, they would have shattered from our stone-statue demeanors; but we both glowed with nervousness, so heaven must have been shining through because we each felt something in us burst open like a small plant beginning to grow. I was a wallflower, yet I still agreed to spend more time with him. We settled on conversation such as God, which of The Beatles was a better writer, Star Wars, and other various topics. We talked with no interruption that night from 8:00, until almost 1 in the morning; it was as if time and space were momentarily paused. We were charmed by the sound of each others sweet voices and always will be. Exchanging records, snow falling, learning to love: two children fascinated with everything while truly waking up in this world for the first time. We have found our rhythm in slowness, nightly walks, museums, plane rides. Since that time, a little over three years ago, we have chosen to be alive next to each other in every season. We vow to take in every small precious detail, and to learn to love each other as we grow into the people we were created to be.
